Telling the Story” was inspired by the pictographs of Fairy Point at Missinaibi Provincial Park, Ontario. Missinaibi is remote, located approximately 80 km north of Chapleau over rocky forest roads. Having seen photographs of Fairy Point early in my painting career, this is one of those sites I had dreamed for many years to see and paint. As is often the case in canoe country, the pictographs are located along a treacherous stretch of water that has claimed more than one boat and life. Respect is definitely the key word here. It was an honor and joy to see and paint the stories left by the Old Ones in the rough, wilderness landscape.
